Scott Ellaway is a British conductor and Artistic Director of Orchestra Europa. He first came to wider attention in a 2009 article for BBC Music Magazine, recognized for his work as founder and Artistic Director of Orchestra Europa, an international orchestral fellowship program.
Born in Monmouthshire, South Wales, Ellaway was educated locally before gaining an organ scholarship to Keble College, Oxford, in 2002 and graduating in 2005. He made his professional conducting debut at age 21 with members of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera in Abergavenny.
He has since worked with orchestras including the Academy of Ancient Music, Berliner Symphoniker, Philharmonia Orchestra, and London Mozart Players, and performed at Lincoln Center in New York. He made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra at Henry Wood Hall in 2016 and has continued his association with the orchestra thereafter. In opera, he has worked with companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago.
