Tamara DiMarco

Tamara Di Marco

Tamara is a first-year PhD student in the Classics Department, pursuing the Classical Art and Archaeology track. She grew up in Italy within an Italian-German household, before moving to the UK to study at the University of Oxford. There, she completed both a BA in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History and an MPhil in Classical Archaeology at Christ Church. She applies interdisciplinary approaches to her research, combining methodologies from classical archaeology, art history, archaeological science, ancient history, and classical literature.

Outside of her PhD, Tamara also enjoys engaging with cultural heritage and the arts. She has worked at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Etruscan Museum in Orvieto, and has conducted research on cultural heritage policy, protection of cultural heritage, and the illicit trafficking of antiquities. She is also trained in film and theatre, with experience in acting, directing, and script writing, and loves exploring creative media as a way to tell stories and bring the ancient world to life. Tamara also loves to travel and has participated in fieldwork and internships across Italy, the UK, Spain, Greece, and Costa Rica. She’d be happy to talk to you about anything, though she is particularly open to chatting about studying/interning abroad and navigating college as a student from an international, first-generation, and/or low-income background.
