John Harley Warner

John Harley Warner is an historian of medicine, public health, and science. His work focuses on health and healing cultures in America from the late-eighteenth century through the present, with particular attention to professional identity, the visual cultures of medicine, and transnational comparison. At Yale he is Avalon Professor of the History of Medicine, Professor of History and of American Studies, and Chair of the History of Medicine department at the Yale Medical School. He teaches undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, and has been Director of Undergraduate Studies for the major in HSHM (History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health). Undergraduate courses include “Media and Medicine in Modern America.”
